According to a .statement- made by Mr Rollin' Law in tho House of Commons the strike at Barrow-in-Fur-ness, previously cabled, is not over. Tho offer still remains open. The stoppage of work when other methods of settlement wore open could not bt, too strongly deprecated. On March 23rd the Press Bureau announced that after a conference between the Government authorities and representatives of the shipbuilding industry and employees at Barrow-in-Furness, it was agreed tlmt_ there should be immediate resumption lit work, on the strength of Sir Hodge's promise to secure a settlement within a week. The award was to. be retrospective. The trouble arose out of the alleged cutting of premium bonur and time allowance.
