DEATH IN POLICE CELLS
A man named Joseph Griffiths, alias Jack Bcatson, an ex-soldier, who was arrested at 4.30 p.m. on Monday last, was found dead in tho police cells shortly after 4. o'clock yesterday morning. Griffiths was to have appeared in the court yesterday on a charge of being an incorrigible rogue, in that he had insufficient means of lawful support. He was thirty-three years ol age, and a native of Tasmania. An inquest will bo held some time to-day.
