WOMEN’S RIGHTS EXTENSION
PLEA FOR WIDER SCOPE OF USEFULNESS. Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 27. A public meeting, under the au* spices of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, to-night adopted a resolution urging the Government to yield without further delaj- to the widespread and frequently expressed demand for the appointment of women police, in order that young people in the community may share in the proven advantages so afforded in many parts of the Empire and in other countries; also urging that a* the right to elect logically carries with it the right to be elected, the Government should take without delay steps to remove the obstacles in the way of women entering Parliament and to their serving as magistrates, justices of the peace, and, jurors.
