SAILORS’ FRIEND SOCIETY

There was a very largo attendance at the Sailors’ Friend Society’s hall last’ evening when Miss V. Mueller gave another of her popular concerts, which was thoroughly enjoyed, as was indicated by the niany recalls. The missioner, Mr Moore, gave a brief address on '‘Temperance.’’ He also expressed thanks to those who had, in response 10 requests made through the press, sent in discarded books lor the use of n en at sea.

The concert performers were the Misses Gawler, Carrington, I. Trim, I. Fairclough, and V. Mueller, Messrs Cul-: verwell, C. Trim, W. Downes, McCullough, Bryant, Ross, and Aracey. The audience expressed its thanks to the party by hearty cheering, and Miss Mueller responded in a few happily chosen words that evoked yet more appreciative demonstrations from the men who go down to the eea in ships.
