COUNCIL TAKES ACTION RESTBIOTIVE BY-LAW PASSED. Owing to the long-con tinned drought the City Council has felt it necessary to take steps to restrict the use of water as much as possible to strictly necessary purposesAt a special meeting of the council yesterday afternoon, therefore, a ihy-law was puisscd prohibiting the uso of water for the following pmposcs:—(l) Cleaning, windows and washing business promises and houses by means of a hose; (2) watering guidons by means of a hose or other removable pipe; (3) ; ornamental .. purposes such as fountains, pom.-s, etc. The regulation applies aho.to the public gardens and reserve*,.
