NEW YORK GOVERNOR'S SCATHING CONDEMNATION.

ALBANY (New York), March 3.
The United Press announces that Governor Whitman has. directed tho State Athletic Commission to prohibit Lcs Darcy (of Australia) entering the rinc on Monday against Jack Dillon (of America), tra the ground that ho is nothing but a slacker. Darcy is also prohibited from taking part in any contest within the State. Governor Whitman said ho understood that Daroy was a runaway from Australia, ivho is afraid to fight lor tho cause m which - his - fellow-countrymen havo sacrificed their lives. He preferred to give a brutal exhibition, at some personal risk, tor a purse of sis thdiri Sand sterling. '
Grant Brown, who is promoter of the fight, said he believed that Governor Whitman has lieen misinformed about' Darcy’s departure from, Australia. - He intends, however, to give Governor Whitman - correct information, in the hope of changing his mind.
