Military hospitals use large quantities of sphagnum moss, and patriotic societies have sent quantities from Ireland and England, and now the women of Newfoundland offer to send any quantity needed to England. The latest engagement in stage circles is that of Miss Ena Grossmith, the oldest daughter of George Grossmith, the renowned Gaiety comedian and librettist, to Captain Alexander Mawson, of the King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. Miss Grossmith, who also has a famous undo in Weedon Grossmith, who is now appearing in London in “The Misleading Lady,” is a pretty girl who as vet has shown no inclination for the stage.. Her fiance. Captain Mawson, belongs to a well-known and affluent family. Her father, George Grossmith, left the Gaiety a few weeks ago, and now holds a commission in the Royal. Naval Volunteer Reserve.
