DISTRICT PERCENTAGES FIGURES SHOW SMALL IMPROVEMENT IN .SOUTH. From the return issued yesterday hj the Defence Department showing the percentages of recruits contributed by each of the four military districts for the week ended January 22nd, it appears that Wellington is still the only district providing more than its quota. Both the South Island districts made a small improvement. the CALL FOR MEN Y recruiting slackens off SOMEWHAT.

Recruiting in Wellington appears to have slackened off somewhat, and only a small number of medical papers have been returned to the Buckle street office from the examining doctors during .the past two days. The number of enlistments at the Town HaU also shows a slight falling-ofF, compared with the results last week. . .The medical papers of ten recruit* who have enlisted in No. 5 group were returned yesterday, all of whom had been declared to he physically fit for active service. With one oil two exceptions, the men accepted have enlisted for the infantry.
