KARORI BOROUGH

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL,

A meeting of the Karori Borough Council was held last evening, when there were present:—His Worship the Mayor (Mr is. Q. H. Burn), and Councillors A. Hamilton, W. bkegg, J. G. Heine, B. Faire, and W. C. Cooper. A letter was'.receiyed from the Karori Methodist Church asking the council to grant the use of the tea room, also of the grounds for a garden party about March 'let. or 2nd.—The request was granted. : i The secretary of the Karori School Committee (Mr A. Needham), wrote asking if the council intended to remove the trees* in the school grounds.—The engineer remarked that the trees were considered to be a nuisance, and It wafe decided that they be cut down. The Karori Golf Club inquired if the council would undertake the work of draining required on the new golf links on Barron’s Estate, main road, at the sum quoted by the borough engineer, namely .£22 18s id. —It was resolved that the work be carried out. provided the club guarantee to meet the expense involved. ..

Mr P. D. Hoskins, secfetary- of the Catholic picnic committee, forwarded a cheque for the us© of Karori Park on Boxing Day, and expressed satisfaction with the park as a picnic ground. Ho also expressed the committee's appreciation of the assistance rendered by the borough engineer. The Mayor remarked that such a letter was pleasant reading.
