What shall I wish you, daughter
mine ? Not gold that glitters, gems that sbme, ■ But hotter gifts and nobler far / Than sparkling gems and jewels are; The • priceless treasures of the mind. Gems by the Master's hand refined, A. loyal, trusting, loving heart, Unknown to guile, , untouched 'by art; A. soul too pure and virtue-fraught To; harbour one unworthy thought, ■ And,, better-iar.. than wealth or. lame. The record of a spotless name,- i These will X pray kind Heav’a to , gj^J For all the days thou hast to’ live, And oyer as the years increase May perfect love,, and joy, and peace.
