DRAWING ON THE 29th INST. Palmerston North patriots, although probably the last people to promote a large art union, are to be the first to keep faith with the public in drawing on the date first advertised, vis., on the 29th inat. We have been , assured that there will be no . postponement. . This promptitude Alone is i worthy of public appreciation, and we anticipate that the good people, who ' are agreeable to, do their bit by speculatinghalf-a-crown for ’ the boys who have done theirs, by risking life and limb, will take ’ full advantage of the last few days remaining in which to procure tickets in-the 51anawatu 1 Patriotic Society’s art' union. The prize -is a corner section in the business centre of, Palmerston' North, valued at' .£3OOO. A genuine offer of 2000 sovereigns already has been made for it. Tlie land was- given by Mr P. A. McHardy for the benefit of our sick and wounded, boys. There has been no procrastination or muddling by the committee controlling this art union. The books have beem open to public inspection from the. beginning., and the committee are keeping a weather eye on the expenses. Numbered marbles are to be used for deciding who shall be the lucky winner, and the managers of the various hanks in _ Palmerston North will supervise the drawing. “Tatt’s" method of drawing their great sweeps is by marbles, which is regarded as the only Way tp give every subscriber an equal chance.
