A Rood start was offected, Pall Mall .being tho first to show out, followed by Menelaus, Lho favourite being somo distance back, with Privation and Trickery. Rounding the bend Pall Mall still beld command by a. clear length, and Tango, and Sedd el Baiiv were working their way to the front. Passing tho stewards stand Deeley brought Red Kibbon. along nicely, and was on oven terms with the leader twenty yards from home. Tango came along at a fast pace, but was unable to get up. Aji excellent start . was effected, Pavlova's colours being prominent m tho van for a moment or two but as soon as the field had settled down Haumakaka took the load, followed by Tangihou, Immer and Maniaroa. Coming into tho back stretch, Immer shot out and soon left a fpap of three lengths between her and the rest of tho field. At the sii furlong post Maniaroa set out after, her, closely attended by His Eminence. Overhauling the mare opposite the five furlong mark, Maniaroa raced with her for a distance, and in the meantime the field had closed up considerably. Tangihou and Haumakaka were lying handy, and Binaldo was behind them, rounding the bend, into the straight. Immer and Maniaroa made an : effort in tho last stage of tho journey, but the former gradually fell away. Well, into the straight Tangihou came on tho outside with a great rush and appeared to have the victory well within his reach fifty yards from the post, but at this point Kinaldocame with .a splendid sprint, and gradually wearing down the gelding, won by half a length after a ding-dong finish.
