AN ASSAULT ON SHIPBOARD,

> For insobriety Alice Ljpuisa McGinnity, alias Allbraud, with two previous convictions, was fined-10s, in default fortyeight hours’ imprisonment; Robt. Bruce McLanders, with three previous convictions, 20s, in default three days; Kenneth McLeod , and Cornelius O’Shea each JOs, in default forty-eight hours.

Frederick Bowtoll admitted assaulting Brio McPherson on October 12th, and was fined 40s. in default seven days. Robert Johiston, described as a fireman on the steamer liimutaka, was confronted with charges of drunkenness and assaulting Arthur Jameo Nicholson and Richard Smith, chief and second engineers respectively of the vessel, on October 12th at Wellington. Ho pleaded guilty to the offences. Sub-Inspec-tor MacKinnon stated that the accused approached the chief engineer dcmand ; mg that scnetl.mg be allowed for two firemen who had worked overtime.
