AN APPEAL ABOUT -E50.000 TO .£60,000.

The hearing of the argument on two questions arising under the will of the tote Edward. William Knowles, of Napier, Was resumed. at the Appeal Court yesterday. His Honour the Chief Justice (Sir 1 Robert Stout) presided, and associated with him, on the bench were Their Honours Mr J notice Denniston, Mr ‘Justice Edwards. Mr Justice Cooper and Mr Justice Chapman. The case was an originating summons heard at the Supremo Court, Napier, and removed into the Court of Appeal, Mr C. P, Skcrrett. K.C., with him Mr S. A. Atkinson, appeared on behalf of the executors, Mr John Vigor Brown and the Rev. James Noble -Dodds; Sir I\ D, Bell, K.C., with him Mr P. S. McLean, appeared for the widow, Mrs Diana Eden Knowles, and for Mrs Aknelia Charlotte Maofarlane (a married daughter);- white the Attorney-General was represented by Mr Salmond, K.C., the Solicitor-General. Deceasd bequeathed the residue of the residuary estate to such charitable, benevolent, religious,: and educational objects os the trustee® should select. The question was raised as to whether the bequest was valid, the amount involved being between £50,000 and £60,000; and if:it is declared void the question then arises who is to get the money. After hearing part of the argument, the court adjourned till .to-day.
