The Government has approved a form that is designed to make it clear to everybody concerned that the first call is to the single men and tho men without deoendents. After supplying information* regarding his age, health, employment, and position in relation to dependents, each man will bo retxuired to answer one of the following questions: If you have not already volunteered for service, aro you, if a single ' man without dependents, willing to become a member of the expeditionary forces? Are you, if a single man with dependents, or a -married or a widower with dependents, willing to become a member of the expeditionary forces if required? THE WOMEN’S REGISTER INFORMATION TO BE SUPPLIED VOLUNTARILY. Speaking in the House of Representatives tho other day, the Prime Minister (Right Hon. W. F. Massey) f said that within a few weeks every woman in New Zealand would bo given an opportunity to offer her services to the State. Mr Massey explained yesterday, when this matter was mentioned to him by a “New Zealand Tiroes” reporter, that the. organisation of the women was going to be on an .entirely voluntary basis. Forms would be available at tho post offices throughout the Dominion, and tho woman who wanted to indicate her willingness to serve the State if her services wore needed would have the right to obtain a form and fill it in.

Tho forms will provide for the collection of information regarding the experience and qualifications of tho women.- Knowledge of nursing or of ambulance work and experience in any clerical or industrial occupation may servo as a qualification for service. Tho possible requirements of tho Government in this direction are not known, much depending upon the duration of ‘the war, but it is becoming apparent that with the increased rate of recruiting now required new avenues of usefulness are going to be opened to women.
