NEW BATTALIONS
• WELLINGTON QEOTA GO INTO CAMP. Headed by the sth Regiment Band, the Wellington quota (city end suburbs) of tho 3rd and 4tb Battalions Npw Zealand Rifle Brigade left the drJI-hal , Buckle street, soon after 12.30 ocJock yesterday afternoon en route for the Lambton railway station, there to entrain for Trentham, One hundred and fifty men were called up, but only a liitlo over half the number answered tho notice sent them. No doubt thero are good reasons for the men not putting; in an appearance and it is not. anticipated that there will be any difficulty ini filling, the ranks, aa it is more than probable that those who failed to answer to their names yesterday will yet report themselves. Those men were given preference and they have upset tho calculation of the military aul/Torities by their failure to carry out their obligations. , ' As the men paraded through teat streets of the city they wore given ovations, and parcels of sweets and fruit were handed to them by members of tho fair sex at different points on the route of march. The n.c.o.’s for the 10th Re:niorcements were paraTlcd at the same: time, and altogether the men made a. Bno show.' ■ After receiving their equips jnent at Trentham the men are to go into camp on the Maymorii Estate at Aliungaroa. The , following is a list of men who went into camp:— RIFLE BRIGADE.
