END OF THE SESSION
BUSINESS CONCLUDED LATE LAST NIGHT legislative] council ; APPROPRIATION BILL. The Speaker (Hon. C. J. Johnston) took tho chair at 11 a.ra., and an adjournment was made to await the arrival of the Appropriation Bill from the House of Representatives. At 9.15 p.m. the Council resumed, when the bill was received from tho House. It was passed through all stages without comment, beyond an explanation by Sir iFrancis 801 l that a clause provided for a house allowance td two members of the Executive during tho, period of the war. TROOPS AT THE FRONT. Tho Council resumed after the presentation of tho Appropriation Bill to His Excellency the Governor. On tho motion of Sir Francis Bell, the following resolutions were carried;— “That this Council warmly con-, gfatulates the military forces of tho Dominion upon the splendid conduct and bravery displayed by the New Zealand troops in tho operations at the Dardanelles, and'expresses itsdeop sense of- appreciation at their gallantry and soldierly qualities.” (“That tho Honourable the Speaker do. convey to the Hon. Dr Collins, M.L.C., the recognition by this Council'of his patriotic action in joining the Now Zealand expeditionary forces to assist the Empire in tho present great war.” At 10.25 p.m. tho Council adjourned foTmally until Tuesday next.
