PRICE OF HAMS IN N.S.W.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright SYDNEY, October 12. The Commodities Commission has increased the price of bams a penny a pound. Tho increase is granted to meet the situation under which hams from other States and New Zealand are allowed to come in without restriction as regards price, while local producers are under the proclaimed price. PRICES OF HAY AND CHAFF. (Received October 12, 11.30 p*m.) SYDNEY, October 12. Before the Commodities Commission, a representative of the produce merchants* intimated that ho intended asking that the proclaimed prices of chaff and bar bo lifted, in order to allow of tho disposal of three thousand tons of New Zealand straw and: chaff imported under an assurance from the Government that no opposition would ho offered to merchants placing them on the market soon afterwards. The Commission recommended a reduction of the price of chaff. Holders of New Zealand chaff objected, as there was a clear understandimr from the Government! that there would he no interference with their importations.
