DRUNKEN FIREMEN

FINED BY UNION FOR DELAYING STEAMER. Press Association. DUNEDIN, October 12. By direction of the executive of the Federated Seamen’s Union, the secretary (Mr W. T. Young) states that early this month it was reported to, him that six firemen on a steamer had been drunk and incapable of doing any work for one day. The executive of the union unanimously resolved to fine each man £5, and if the money is unpaid fourteen days after the return of the vessel to a New Zealand port tilie men will be expelled from the anion.
