A number of political personages in tho Chamber have been examined and arrested in connection with the assassination of -M- Jaures. [M. Jean Leon Jaures, the famous French Socialist leader, was assassinated on July 31st, 1914, while dining in a cafe, by a young man ’named Raoul .Villain, who shot him at close range with u revolver. The incident occurred at tho height of tho excitement at the outbreak of war, and was attributed by tbo assassin to his desire to punish AI. Jaures lor his anti-imiii- - tary propaganda.j
