Dr. Anson, who was the onlV candidate, obtained his M.D. and ’M.A. degrees at Cambridge 'University. Major “Tiny” Freyberg. according to a letter received a few days ago, has been successfully operated on at the New Zealand base hospital at Port Said, and baa returned to the front at Gallipoli. The death occurred at'his residence, Cole street Masterlon, on Sunday mornj.rigi of Mr AJnthony G«mge Buixfier, who resided for about eix years in the town. The deceased had a very kindly and cheerful disposition and had endeared himself to a very large circle of friends in consequence. He was born in Hampshire, England, in 1842, and arrived in. Miss Maclean left the Dominion on April Bth for London in ’ charge of the first contingent of nurses for service abroad. AVhen seen by a "Times" representative last night. Miss MaeU\vi stated that she spent a fortnight in London, and afterwards proceeded to Egypt, taking an active- part in the treatment of the wounded soldiers there for over two months. It is understood that Miss Maclean has returned under instructions to report for further duty, hut she declined to pi ve an account of her ex. periences while in Egypt.
