KITCHENER’S ARMIES ARE OFF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS DAILY By Telegranh—Press Association —Copyright. (Received September 2, 10 p.m.) LONDON, September 2. Importance is attached to a hurriedly called Cabinet meeting attended by Lord Kitchener and all the leading members. Rumour has it that the meeting portends that something is to happen on the western front before long. Soldiers are becoming scarce in London. Hundreds of thousands daily, during the past month, have been moving off for somewhere. It is known that the British front in France has been lengthened, but to what extent is unknown. _ . BRITAIN IS NOT LOOKING FOR PEACE (Received September 2, 10 p.m.) LONDON, September 2. Despite German feelers, it is asserted on the best authority that there is no chance of tooling in Britain on the subject of peace negotiations. Few Socialists even favour the ending of hostilities. . • Neither official circles, nor the great mass of tue public, have any inclination for peace either honourable or otherwise. ?
