Opportunity was taken during yesterday afternoon’s session of the annual conference of the New Zealand Council of Agriculture to make a presentation to the retiring secretary, Mr E. Hall, of Auckland. The president (Mr W, Perry) said that the country owed a great deal to the way Mr Hail had helped forward the agricultural industry. He had attended every conference that had been held, and had worked indefatigafaly. Mr •f. C. N. Grigg said that Mr Hall was noted for his unselfishness, _ -and had achieved remarkable results in.a modest way. Sir Walter Buchanan paid a tribute’to Mr Hall’s exact information, and pointed out his valuable work , in connection 'with the supply of telephones te, country settlers. Other speakers, including Mr F. S. Pope, Secretary for Agriculture, added their meed of. praise, and spoke of Mr Hall's work in initiating cowtesting. The president then ’ presented the late secretary with a handsome illuminated address and a valuable silver tea and coflee service. Mr Hall, in re-> spending, expressed pleasure that hi*, work had been appreciated. ■
