The conference called by tbo United Federation ot Labour, of represent:, tives of unions affiliated with that body, commenced in the Esperanto Hai. on Saturday morning. Mr J. T. Paul was voted to the chair. The annual rs port and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The following committee., wore elected:—Pi ess commit (,*J r Messrs F. M. Konsou, G. Ucnn aim SC. Brown: order paper committee, Messrs J. flow gray, E. Howard and P. fl'ckey; credentials committee, Messrs Barnes. J- Read and E. Woodham. The report, of the committee set, up to deal with the constitution was received, and the conference considered various remits from the Otago Certificated Engine-drivers’ Union in conjunction with recommendations of the constitution and rules committee.
