CONFERENCE AT CALAIS
MEETING OF FRENCH AND BRITISH LEADERS Tho High' Commissioner reports;— LONDON. July 9, 9.30 p.m. Mr Asquith, (Lord Crewe, Lord Kitchener, and Mr Balfour left England on Monday for a conference at Calais on Tuesday, with MM. Viviani, Delcasse, Millerand, Augagneur, A. Thomas and General Joffre. General Sir John French was also present. ' , Mr Asquith and, Lord Kitchener afterwards visited the British headquarters. TWO DAYS’ TOUR OF BRITISH FRONT (Received July IT, 3 p.m.) LONDON, July 11. Mr Asquth and Lord Kitchener visited Sir John French’s headquarters orr Tuesday and toured tho British front for two days. They inspected tho first and second armies, and the Indian flying corps. They vrero specially interested in tho machine guns school. They mot King Albert. Lord Kitchener visited the French troops at Arras and returned to London 'in tho' afternoon.
