DIOCESAN SYNOD
SESSION CONTINUED. The annual synod of the' Wellington Anglican Diocese continued its sittings yesterday, the Bishop cf Wellington (Eight Rev. Dr Sprott) presiding. ■On tho motion of Mr R. Wilberfoss, it was decided that it be a recommendation from this synod to the trustees of the several trusts that the trustees of such trusts be reimbursed their actual out-of-pocket expenses incurred by them when travelling solely upon the business of such trusts.
The following resolutions were also passed : “That this synod learnt with regret that the general synod at its last mooting repealed clauses X to 20 and 22 and 23 of canon 2 title A, and passed a statute amending this canon without such amended canon having first been submitted to (the several diocesan synods for consideration, and that this synod respectfully expresses its disapproval of the amended canon."—(Mr R. Wilberfoss). “That the hearty thanks of this synod be accorded to Mrs Joshua Jones for her gift of books to the diocesan library, and also to Mrs Cassell for books for thro Hadfield Memorial College and Hostel."—(Rev. A. M. Johnson). At the evening session tho following motion was carried :—“That this synod desires to draw tho attention of the clergy and laity of the diocese to the importance of the study of tho subject of spiritual healing, and recommends that a committee be set up to consider ways and means of furthering such study, and to report _to next synod; such committee to consist of the Revs. E. J. Sola, H. Watson. G. YWoodward, R. Bray, Messrs G. G. Bridges and R- L- Button and the mover.”—(Rev. E-. H. Hobday). Tho synod then went into committee to consider- the finance committee’s _ report, and remained so all the evening. The * next session will commence at 4 p.m. on Monday next. • Tho election of standing committee resulted as follows: Clergy: Yen. Archdeacon Fancourt,' Revs. A. L. Hansell, A. M. Johnson, A. S. Innis-Jones, H. Watson, A. D. Williams, R. Young; laity: Messrs W, J. Birch, G- G. Bridges. E. S- Hatfield, W. S. Jacob, J. W. Henderson, J. Kebbell. H. A. Neviu's, G. Sbirtcliffe, and E. Wilberfoss. , - , The election of members of general synod resulted as follows:—Clergy: Yen. Archdeacon Reeve. Rev. A. M. Johnson and Rev. H. Watson; laity: Messrs W. J. Birch. John Martin. G. S. Martin, R. Wilberfoss.
