STEAMER AFIRE IM MID-OCEAN
By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright NEW YORK, July 8. The Atlantic Transport Company’s liner Minnehaha, 13.714 tons gross, is afire in mid-ocean. She is ©n route to London. It is believed the outbreak has been got under’ control. She is carrying a heavy cargo of ammunition. The steamer is returning to Halifax. The fire is reported to be due to an. explosion. v It is believed here that a German sympathiser hid bombs aboard the vessel.
