NOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the Wellington City Council to introduce in the ensuing session of Parliament the Wellington City Empowering Act. 1908, Amendment Bill. Tho objects which the said Bill is intended to effect are:— 1. To amend “The Wellington City Empowering Act, 1908,” hereinafter reterred to as "the principal Act.” 8. In respect of the drainage of the outlying districts of the City, namely, those portions of the late -Borough ot Melrose and the portions of Northland and Wadestown that were not drained under the original drainage scheme of tho City, to make the following provisions (1) To authorise the Council to borrow by way of special loan by- special order and without taking a poll of the ratepayers a sum of not more than .630,000 in addition to the existing loan ot .£IOO,OOO.

(2) To provide tiiat such special loan shall be secured on a special rate on the whole, of the district affected by the principal Act. (3) To provide that the interest, sinking fund and other charges on the loan of .£30,000 shall, as far as possible, be paid out of the existing rate made to secure the existing loan of £IOO,000. being a rate of Id in the £ on all rateable property in the district affected before the special rate on which the loan of £30,000 is secured is collected. (4) To provide that all moneys produced by a' loan raised under the provisions of the proposed Act shall be expended ns follows (a) In repaying amounts expended by the Council out of its General-Fund for drainage works in the district affected, the sum of £17.000 having been already so expended. ib) In further carrying on the construction of the drainage system in the district affected apart from the construction of private drains and house connections.
