May 13. ‘‘Lo Temps” .Rome correspondent states that it is known in well-informed Italian circles that Germany, intended to invade Italy after Charleroi and Mons, to capture Milan, and to attack France from the south, and then capture Lyons. . . ’ The defeat of the Germans at the Marne upset their plans and forced Germany to court Italy.
