Russell, J. Morris. J. W. Heenan, P. Levi, W. R. C. Macpherson, H. Foley, and W. Perry. . Prior to the business being gone on with, the Mayor welcomed Councillor Levi to the council table. The Mayor of Wellington wrote enclosing a circular in respect to the Belgian relief fund, and some discussion ensued as to what action the council should take. It was suggested bv Councillor Heenan that as a considerable amount’ had already been raised for the Belgians, the council might be better advised to turn its attention to the New Zealand wounded soldiers’ fund. Eventually it was dethat as Belgian relief was an urgent necessity, a meeting of borough residents should be called for May 20th to-form a committee to collect funds. The Mayor, Councillor Perry and the town clerk were appointed a committee to make preliminary ar-, raneements. . After some discussion the matter of alteration to the ’bus service was referred back to the ferry board for consideration and report. Free ferry passes were granted the Mavor and councillors, on the same conditions as last year.
