LEAGUE FOOTBALL
ANNUAL. ■MEETING OF NEW ZEALAND BODY. Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 12. The annual mooting of me J\ew Zealand Kuyby Football League was held this evening.' The election of officers resulted as follow;—Dresitient, air JasCanaw; secretary, Mr ii. C. Oakley; treasurer, Mr \v. O. Carlaw; council of management, Messrs A. E'. Dowell (Aucklanu), D. \V. McLean (Wellington;, I*. J. uladding '(Hawke's Hay), f- Is. Morton (Taranaki). W. F. Wynyartl (.Canterbury). Messrs P-S. Uesher (Wanganui) and N. U. Levin (Nelson) were also elected members of the council, and will take their seats when their respective leagues comply witii certain formalities. . :
The annual report and balance-sheet was read and adopted. The balancesheet showed that was disbursed in grants and loan to various leagues during the year. The English tour resulted in a- loss ot i-23 2s fid. It was stated that a total of, 297 league players i had. enlisted for active service, and of these 168 came from Auckland. The following resolution was carried,"Tna-t this league place on record its appreciation of the gallantry displayed by the New Zealand ana Australian troops at their first serious engagement, and extend to the relatives of those injured their deepest sympathy." , .. At a meeting of the new council it was decided to abandon the proposed Australian tour, the leagues affected having failed to arrive at an agreement in regard to dates- The New South Wales League wants the New Zealand team to visit Australia in June, but the New Zealand League is unable to send a team until August.
