WANGANUI NOTES
(By “Eileen.”) July 13. Mr R. G. MoNivou was elected president of the Wanganui -Caledonia* Society at the meeting hold on Wednesday last. ... Mrs Didsbury (Pohangma) is the guest of her sister, Mrs H. V- Hammond. Upokongaro. Mr A. Doig was installed as master of the St. Andrew’s Kilwinning Lodge on Thursday evening. ' Mr J. Goi-don Holmes, late or the Yorkshire “Observer,” has been visiting his mother, Mrs F. A. Simpson Carlton. Mr Holmes leaves this week to take up a position on the literary staff of tho “New Zealand Herald.” Miss Barker, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs G. McDonald, Guyton street. A pretty wedding took place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Thursday afternoon. The bride was Miss Hettie Richards, of Nelson, and tho bridegroom Mr Charles Clarke (of the local telegraph staff). The Rev. Oalder officiated.. The service was a choral one in honour of the bride, who for many years took a prominent part in church work in Nelson. The bride was given away by her uncle, Mr A. Bogle, and her gown rif white satin had a Court train lined in pale pink silk; her veil of Limerick lace was caught with bridal flowers and she
carried a bouquet of freesias and maidenhair fern, and she wore tho bridegroom’s gift, a sapphire and diamond bangle. The ' bridesmaids were Miss and Miss Thelma Bogle. The former wore pink silk veiled in ntllo, and the latterwore a frock of white embrojdory with orange sash and Oriental cap to match. Mr A. Bogle (junr.) was best man. . After tho ceremony tho bridal party and guests were entertained by Mr and Mrs Bogle at their residence, Ball street.
