From Our Own Correspondent. July 13. Messrs E. Welch, H. Crass, and B. Buick have donated trophies to tho Masterton Gun Club for competition among the members. Mr BuicK’s trophy is a handsome gold medal, to ho awarded to the competitor making the best six shoots in tho club. In a football match at To Ore Ore, tho taxi-drivers of Masterton defeated the Te Ore Ore natives by 17 points to U.

The death; occurred shortly after 9 o’clock on. Saturday night of Mrs Daniell, wife of Mr C. hi. Daniel!, of Albert street, Masterton. The deceased • lady, had been ill for a considerable time, and very little hope was held out for her ultimate recovery, despito the fact that she had tho most skilled medical attention and tho best of nursing. . .The news of her death will bo received with feelings of deep regret in Masterton, for she was held in ' the highest esteem by all classes of the community. She was of a benevolent, kindly nature, and endeared herself to all by her good acts. Many families in Masterton were helped in tTieir time of trouble by Mrs Daniell in a quiet, unostentatious way, and only those directly concerned knew of her kind deeds. It is not too much to say that by time© she was worshipped; they have lost, a kindly, sympathetic friend, whom it will bo hard to replace. Xn connection with the Masterton Methodist Church Mrs Daniell rendered valuable work in the same quiet, thorough manner which marked all her deeds. The church has never had a more willing or enthusiastic worker, and the Ladies' Guild in particular have suffered a severe loss. Even in her illness Mrs Daniell did not forget tho Guild, and oven though not able to take an active part in their work assisted them in a substantial manner in other directions. The deceased lady was sixtyone years, of age. With her husband she came to New Zealand thirty-four years ago, and had resided continuously since then in Masterton. With Mr Daniell she took an active f part in many local movements which had for their object the advancement of the town.’ A husband, eight daughters, and frfur sons, are left to mourn their loss. The daughters are Mesdames D. E. Parton, H. Inns, and L. ADenton, and Misses Winnie, Ethel, Ida, Gladys, and Marjorie Daniell, and the sons Messrs F. G., A., L., and H. Daniell. :, • .
