INCONSISTENCY

To the Editor “N.Z. Times.”

Sir,— Inconsistency, thy name “ Fisher. I notice that the “Rainbow made such a dash for the Bay of Islands electorate that he nearly missed the opening of Parliament, being the only Minister, with the exception of Dr Pomare (poor, over-worked Dr), who was not present the day before Parliament opened. Ot course, he was not electioneering at the country’s expense; oh, dear, nol the purity, party would not do such a thing—only the wicked Liberals would do that. The “Rainbow’ told the electors at Kohukohu that they should support Mr Reed, because b® was instrumental in putting a freehold Cabinet in power. Then, by the same parity of reasoning,’ should not the electors .of Wellington Central vote against himself (Mr Fisher), as ho won his election on his pledge to vote against the freehold —even , declaring on every - platform in his electorate that. he could not posibly join “Massey” Cabinet, because it would be “freehold,” arid ho was a "leaseholder? What about .that famous telegram from Mr Massey- on the eve of ibe second ballot; “Quite understand you are only, with me to put Ward out”? Is not his Bay of Islands speech in favour, of Mr Reed an added insult to the' intelligence of the electors of Wellington Central? I am, etc., . . LYNX.
