BIG CONGRESSES

SAN FRANCISCO TO GREET 500.

Tho Bureau of Societies and Conventions of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition, to be held at Ban Francisco, commencing February 20th, 1015, has arranged for 200 congresses and conferences tc. bo conducted during the progress of the exposition, and me list is growing daily.

These embrace a wide range of interests, including economics, sociology, ethics, fraternity, science, religion, art, commerce, education, and other world interests. The following are included in the list already arranged;— International Congress on Education,, International Efficiency Congress, International Congress on Marketing and Farm Credits, International Electrical Congress, International Congress of Nurses, Panama-Pacific Dental Congress, World’s Insurance Ccngress, International Congress of Authors and Journalists, Women’s World Congress of Missions, National Congress of Mothers, Congress on Marriage and Divorce, American Red Cross, American Historical Association, Association of American Universities. International Association of Labour Commissioners, American Breeders’ Association, American Academy of Medicine, National Educational Association, and many others.

There will be, in all, 600 such conventions, represented by at least 500,COO accredited delegates. An auditorium, seating 10,000 people, is being erected at a cost of over a million dollars, at the civic centre of San Francisco and this, with numerous other halls, will be furnished for tho use of those assemblages. No less important will be the exhibits in the department of sociology, which will be housed in the Palace of Education, and will embrace every phase of tho modern economic and sociological problems. Including prison reform, the care of juvenile delinquents, nursing and hospital service, tho rearing of children, housing, factory inspection and improvement, wages, high cost of living, problems of capital, and labour alike.
