MIRAMAR CLUB. A men’s foursome was played on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately the rain cam© on before the majority of the competitors had finished, and rather spoilt the scores. The beet cards returned were:—P. B. Cooke and J. L. Stout, 1 down; L. D. Hurst and N. Chesney, 1 down; M. W. Horton and W, A. Kennedy, 2 down; N. A. Bobieson and H. S. Hislop, 3down; \V. T. Wynyard and W. Barr, 3 down; G. O. Sutton and H. B. Tomlinson, 4 down; T. H. Glendining and Major Hughes, 4 down. The final round of the Christchurch Golf Club’s championship was played to-day at the Shirley links in excellent weather, B. B. Wood and H. E. Wright playing off in the afternoon. There was a large number of spectators, and considerable interest was displayed in the .proceeding?. In the first round the two players were all square at the turn, after even going, each registering 40. Wood won the tenth hole with 4 to 5, but Wright succeeded in equalising the next with 5 to 4. Even play followed at the twelfth, but at the thirteenth Wright succeeded in gairiing a lead which he held until the fifteenth hole, where Wood got level again. The next two were halved, and the last hole was won by Wright with 6 to 4, leaving him with a’ lead of 1 Up at the eighteenth. Wright started off in the second round with a lead of 1 up, and at the turn had increased his lead to 2 up. Even going resulted up to the tenth hole, which was halved with 5 —5. Wright won the eleventh hole with 6 to 4, and Wood the next with 3 to 4. At the thirteenth hole Wood was again successful, leaving him with 1; down. The fourteenth hole was halved in 4’s, and Wright won the next with 5 to 6, giving him a lead of 2 up. The sixteenth hole was halved, but in the seventeenth Wright wear easily, thus winning the championship with 3 up and 1 to play.
