In the air race from London to Paris and back for £IOOO sterling, Broek, an American, won, travelling 508 miles in 423 minutes. Seven competitors started, of whom Lord Carberry, Garros, and Renaux with a lady passenger reached Paris. Lord Carberry, in returning, fell in mid-channel, and a steamer picked him up. A destroyer salved his aeroplane.
