CENTENARY OF LORDS
On June 22nd the centenary of Lord’s Cricket Ground will be inaugurated, and during that week two matches—viz., Douglas’s South African Eleven v. the Rest of Elngland and the Royal Navy v. the tTiny—will be the special attractions. His .Majesty King George, it is expected, will attend the second match; Lord's is the most famous cricket ground in the world. Thomas Lord, a cncketer of some note had a playing ground first at White Conduit Fields, then, at Dorset square. On the latter being reel wired for building purposes. Lord, removed to North Bank, but remained there only a little time, ,aa the course of the Regent’s Canal was planned to run through his ground. In 1811 he and the Marylebone Cricket Club migrated to the now well-known site in the St. John's Wood road-
