ARRANGEMENTS FOR INTERISLAND FIXTURES.

The management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union met last evening. Mr N. Galbraith was iu the chair. There were also present: Messrs Wylie, Laurenson, Laughton, Isaacs, Hyams, and W. Perry. A sub-committee recommended that the sum of £2OO be voted to the school districts, as follows,:—“Wanganui £l2, Wairarapa £l2, South Canterbury £l2, Southland £l2, South Auckland £l2, Marlborough £9, Bush Districts £ll, Manawatu £B, West Coast £9, Buller £9, Taranaki £l2, Nelson £9, Bay of Plenty £B, Hawke’s Bay £ll, Poverty Bay. £B, Horovvhenua £6, Auckland £lO, Wellington £lO, Canterbury £lO, Otago £lO. The Poverty Bay and Manawatu grants have been held over till the amounts of their school expenditure have been sent in. A telegram was received from the Nelson Unidn expressing disappointment at the non-inclusion of their nominees in the South Island “A” team. Disappointment, was also expressed at the men nominated for the ‘,‘B” team not being selected in the order named. R. Roberts was selected as captain for the North Island “A” team. J. Cuthill was appointed captain of the South Island fifteen. Messrs R. M. Isaacs and J. H. A. Laughton were re-elected members of the appointment board for the season. Messrs Francis and Fordyce were selected by the appointment board to officiate as referees in the *■ A” and “B” inter-island matches respectively; Tho suspension of B. Benson, of the Poneke Club, for four playing Saturdays from date for using an obscene expression to a. referee on 6th inst. was confirmed. A suggestion from the Wellington Rugby Union that the annual match between the junior representatives and Wednesday representatives be played on the 17th inst. as a “curtain-raiser” to the North and South Island fixture, was adopted, providing that the game end by twenty minutes to 3 o’clock. It was decided to play a St, Patrick’s College-University match as a “ cur-tain-raiser ” to the.big game also. The secretary of tho Greymouth Union telegraphed that O’Callaghan, owing to unforeseen circumstances; would b© unable to play in the South Island “ A ” team. . In response to a query from a union, it w r as decided to reply that a disqualified player could not referee in a match or hold anv official position. . Tho Nefson Rugby Union advised the suspension of W. Rowlands and W. Dcyle for participating in. Northern League fixtures. Both players were of mature age; the former played League all last season, and the latter for several seasons. —Both players' are to be written to asking them to show cause why they should not be expelled. The. Marlborough Union wrote, advising that the following players took part m advertised League matches, and that they have been disqualified:—W. O’Dwyer, A. Neal, T. Geary, A. Taylor, P. McDonald, E. F. Bates, R. Cresswell, ,J. Murphy, McMahon; H. Marshall, H. Schwass, P. O’Dwyer, J. McDonald, Hyams, A.; Oben, C. Murphy, R. McArtney, P. Batty, A. McCallum, J. O’Dwyer, W. Marks, K. Ross, F. O’Sullivan, J. O’Leary, W. Gibb, A. Masters, Parker, W. Stafford, H. J. Callan IV. Maxted, D. McCallum, and A. Gridley.—The players were given fourteen days in which to show cause why they should not be expelled. The Southland Union advised that its representatives would "be touring berth this year and intended to fulfil a fixture with the Taranaki Union. In compliance with Rule 4, of the Ranfurly Shield regulations, they applied for the match to be a challenge one.— The request was granted. ;
