Mr 6. W. Russell addressed between 400 and 600 people at. the, Coronation Hall. The Mayor presided. The speaker had a capital hearing, frith only one or two interjections, and the audience followed him closely and repeatedly broke out with loud applause. At the close of the address, which occupied over two hours, a vote of thanks to the speaker and confidence in the Ward party was carried unanimously. The meeting broke up with cheers for Mr Russell and Sir Joseph Ward. Counter cheers were called for Mr Massey, but the call met with a feeble response. Mr Bussell afterwards held a meeting of Liberals, when forty assembled. A Liberal Association for Bruce was formed, and it was resolved to organise the district thoroughly.
