MIRAMAR BOROUGH

MEETING OP THE COUNCIL,

The Mirimar Borough Council met last evening, when there were present : —The Mayor (Mr T. Townsend), Councillors Dr Edith Huntley, Stone and Tracey. Air J. E. Arcus, secretary of the local town-planning committee, wrote asking the council to assist in defraying the expenses of two members of the London Beautifying Association who were about to tour New Zealand.— The Mayor said that the borough was not financial enough to support such matters, and the letter was “received.’’ As the borough’s electric main would not be ready for use for another eighf or nine months, it was decided ■bo allow ratepayers to connect with the City Council's main. The following notices were received from the Municipal Electors’ Association:— (1) That the council be requested to put the south end of Miramar quay in repair and to form a footpath; also to ask the City Council to repair their portion of the road adjoining; (2) that the borough council request the City Council to make the 12.21 and 1.6 cars on Saturdays through-faro cars; (3) that the council be requested to attend to a hole in the road at Karaka Bay, which is creating a nuisance; (4) that the council he notified that there is no light inside the Karaka Bay ’bus, and to’ask that the matter be remedied.

It was reported that in regard to the first matter the work had already been done, the second had been referred to the tramway committee, the work had been done in the _ third, while the fourth would he given effect yto.
