HOSPITAL BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING.
A meeting of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday afternoon, at which the following members wore present:—The Rev. W. A. Evans (chairman), Mrs I>. McLaren, Messrs H. Baldwin, F. Castle, D. Campbell, H. Freeman, B. B. Gardener, W. Galloway, J. W. McEwan, D. McLaren, F. T. Moore, G. J. Petherick, D. Robertson, J. Smith, Dr Mackenzie, and tho Revs. J. K. Elliott, and H. Van Staveren. It was stated that tho Health Department was making full inquiries into the canse of the recent outbreak of enteric among tb© nurses who had been working in the children’s hospital. Dr Piatts-Mills, Dr Mackenzie, the Rev. W. A. Evans, and Messrs G. Nash, J. W. MoEwan, and D. Robertson were appointed a committee to inquire into the whole question of the hospital’s milk supply. Tile following recommendation was submitted by the hospital committee; “That the scale of charges for maintenance of children under treatment at the hospital from July Ist ho as follows: —Children’s hospital, up to twelve years of age, LA: Gd per week (minimum feo 10s); diphtheria ward and fever hospital, np to twelve years of age, £1 Is per week; over twelve and up to eighteen years of ago, £1 10s per week. Air MoEwan protested against the increase of the hospital charges, which, ho said, would not result in obtaining more money from the patients. Tho recommendation was, however, adopted. . Accounts amounting to £2845 0s lid wer© passed for payment, and for Otaki hospital and sanatorium accounts totalling £643 12s id were passed. Accounts totalling £348 17s 6d were passed on tho charitable aid committee’s ) report.
