CHANGE OF POLICY NOT ENDORSED BY FARMERS’ UNION. Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 21. The question of naval defence was discussed at some length at the Farmers’ Union Conference this morning, when tho executive submitted the following remit:—“That this conference, while reaffirming the ■position that Now Zealand should contribute its fair share towards the defence of tho Empire, is of opinion that tho proposed change of policy in regard to the naval subsidy is such an tall-important matter, and is fraught with such serious and far-reaching results, that tho Dominion should not .finally bo committed until the matter has been more fully discussed.” After a lengthy discussion, the rel/nit was carried unanimously amid applause.
