WOMEN’S CLAIMS

A deputation of women from the Political Labour League conference urged upon Mr Holman (the Premier; their claims to participate in the activities of political and municipal life, also as nominees for the Upper House. The Premier promised Ministerial consideration for the Upper House suggestion. He said, in regard to women sitting in the Assembly or on municipal councils, that the Government intended to bring the constitution into line with those of more advanced States. The aim of democracy was to extend the range of choice and to allow the electors to say whether they would bo represented by a man or a woman.
