A number of ladies and gentlemen belonging to the Thomdon Catholic parish met last evening to make arrangements for tendering a complimentary “social” to the Rev. Father Hickson, S.M., who has been transferred, though his now sphere of duties has not yet been appointed. It was decided that the testimonial should take tire form of an illuminated address and a purse of sovereigns. The function will bo hold in the first rteek in June. It is understood that a number of private citizens are interesting themselves in a similar project. The Rev. Father W. Tymons is taking up Father Hickson’s duties as Administrator of the Thorndon parish, his assistant being the Rev. Father Smyth, S.M., of Timaru. The Rev. Father Lezer, S.M., of Temuka, replaces Father Smyth at Timaru. Invoices, circulars, in fact anything in the printing line, can be got at the ‘‘Times'’ jobbing department at reasonable cost.
