DAIRY COMPETITIONS

CHEESE CHAMPIONSHIP OP NEW ZEALAND. WEDDEL CUP FOR BUTTER. The results of two important compete tions for dairy factories, hold under tho auspices pf the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association, wore announced ou Monday. The champion shield lor factory cheese hae been won by the Taiori and Peninsula Milk Supply Company* and tho Woddcl Cup for factory, butter by the Matakana Co-operative Hairy Company. The association's champion shield and a cash prize of j£s, are awarded annually to the cheese-makcr whoso factory output for the season gains the highest aggregate number of points according to the certificates issued by the Government grader between November Ist and April 30th., The competition is open to all factories in the Dominion. The sum of £25 will bo divided this year among me nest five competitors. There‘were eight competitors this season, and the award* are as follow : Taieri and Peninsula Milk Supply Company, Ltd., Dunedin, 92.66 points 1 Kaiparoro Dairy Company, Kaiparoro, 90.59 points J Parkvale Dairy Company, Carterton, 90.58 points 3 Hapuku Dairy Company, Hapuku, 89.92 points 4 Aparima Dairy Company, Kiverton, 89.76 points 5 Norsewood Dairy Company. South Norsewood, 89.72 points fl The shield wue won last year by tho Parkvale Dairy Company (Carterton) with 82.21 points, Taieri and .Peninsula Milk Supply Company (Dunedin) gaining second place with 92.15 points. The Wcddel Cup competition for factory butter is open to all factories in tho Auckland Province. in this competition also the prizes are awarded on the Government grader’s certificates on the season's output. A cash prize of Xb is given with the cup, and live other prizes amounting to X 23. were provided this year. There were twelve competitors this season, and the results are /is follow: Matakana Co-operative Dairy Company, 03.81 points, 1; Eureka Cooperative Dairy Company, 93.73 poinis, 2; Waipu Co-operative Dairy Company, 93.16 points, 3; Piopio Co-operative Dairy Company, 92.78 points, 4; Amburys. Ltd., Auckland. 92.73 points, o; Bay of Islands Co-operative Dairy Company, Ohaewai. 92.37 points, 6. The highest aggregate last season was. gained by the Waipu Co-operative Dairy Company with 93.32 points, the OruruFairburn Co-operative Dairy Company ee* curing second place with 92.50 point*.
