WHAT IS WRONG?
To the Editor “N.Z. Times.” Sir, —Some time ago the Public Service Commissioners caused to bo published a statement that all increases to civil servants’ salaries for the year ending March 31st, 1915, would come into force as from April Ist, 1914, and be paid as from that date. No such payment has yet been made. Why? Do they find now that they haven’t the power ? Or is it that plain Bill recognises that the service is going to give him and his pet Commissioners such a bump in December that ho has got the spike and won’t pay until the Estimates are passed?—l am, etc., ONE OF ’EM.
