BILLIARDS
ALCOCK'S BILLIAED-DINEE HANDICAP. The diner tournament was continued last evening before a very large gathering of spectators, and some very interesting games were decided. The chief of these was between W. N. Tucker and A. J. Grabham. The former player opened very confidently, making a break of 45 at the commencement, and following this up with consistent runs of 20 and 25, he soon established a substantial lead, wiping off his arrears before his opponent had got going. Grabham, despite the fact of having the bad run of the bells, failed time and again to take advantage of the many openings his opponent so generously offered him. Tucker, on the other hand, played magnificent billiards, treating the audience to some rare all-round-tho-table cannons, which evoked much applause. His last effort of 52 ran him to within 5 of his points, and received quite quite an ovation from the audience. Indeed, it might he said that his was the most popular win ot the tournament.
The other games resulted as follow •- —H. H. Porter defeated 0. H. Mai 1 thews by 19 points. G. Hemmingway beat F. R. Hutton by 49 points. Hutton made a fine break towards the finish, namely, 31, but his effort was too lain. E. A, Burd beat J. M. Canliffe by 39 points. The games for Friday are:
