WANGANUI TRACK NOTES

Special to the “ Times.” WANGANUI, May 19. Tho training work this morning was of an interesting description, some very tine jumping being witnessed. Borcola (E. Copestake), Riro Atu (Tutchen), and Silver Monarch (N. Campbell) wore associated in a conplo of rounds' over the big country, the throe keeping well together and jumping very well. The former’s display was perhaps the better of the three, as he showed more dash at the jumps, and was going very strongly at the end. Riro Atu jumped well all through, but appeared to tire a little at the end. Karimoi (A. Gordon) and Morihiko (L. Traill) were associated in a couple of rounds over the big fences, both jumping very cleanly and keeping together. Considerable interest was taken in a go over the schooling hurdles between Cornelian (E. Copestake) and Aruake (J. Howden). Royal Medal also started with the above pair, but pulled out after going over a couple °f hurdles. Cornelian showed to better advantage than Aruake, gaining ground at each jump, and it was an attractive performance on his part. Aruake did not jump .as well as usual, hut made up his leeway between the jumps until the last bit, when he was apparently tiring. Cornelian showed a lot of dash, his jumping being very quick and clean. Gladiole, Kurapai, and Fidessa jumped off at the six-furlong post, the former being in front at tho end of the journey," the time recorded being Imm 19sec.

Lady Elgiva bad John Willie as a companion over six furlongs, run in linin'2osec, the former finishing well in front.

Praefectus beat White Plum© over six furlongs. Master Lupin ran seven furlongs alone in Imin 34sec. ■Spalfish (W. Bell) covered five furlongs in Xmin .Sisec, and, Square Deal (W. Bell) seven in Imin 34sec. , Goldsize was sent a fast mile, and pleased the critics by the way he shaped. He looks particularly fit, and is.much, fancied for the Connolly Handicap. New York beat Grey Guard easily over six furlongs, the last five being carved out in Imin 4 3-ssec.

Gondolier shaped well in a mil© spin with St. Gate.

F. Tilley came in from Fordcll this morning with Goodwin Park, Mescal, Kaniki, Postillion, Leonta, and Princess Moutoa. Goodwin Piark and Mescal were given a turn over the schooling hurdles separately, each jumping well. Goodwin Park never looked better, and his chance in" the Century Hurdles is highly thought of. Postillion looks very fit, and Leonta also is apparently at the top of his form. ,
