POLICE CASES YESTERDAY.

Air D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., presided over' yesterday morning’s sitting of the Magistrate's Court.

Annie Pcct, with six previous convictions for drunkenness, who was charged with insobriety onco more, pleaded guilty and received .a month’s imprisonment! Kato Brady was charged with drunkenness and with breach of her prohibition order. She pleaded guilty to both charges. On the first charge she was fined 20s, in default seven days on the second 20s with i s costs, in default a month’s imprisonment. Mav Johnston was prohibited and fined 20s, or seven days, for drunkenness. Margaret Williams, for the same offenceT was fined 20s or seven days; and 20s, with 7s costs, in default a mouth’s imprisonment, for breach of her prohibition order. Minnie Brown, charged with importuning, was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment. For insobriety, Henry Greenfield and Andrew Sommervillo were each fined 20s,' dr three days; George McKenzie 10s, or 48 hours. Michael Sullivan pleaded guilty to a charge of using obscene language in Woodward street, • and was fined £2, in default a month’s imprisonment. William James was fined 10s. with 7s costs, in default three days’ imprisonment, for breach of his prohibition order. George Patrick McNamara and Arthur Potter were fined the same amounts for similar offences. For breach of her prohibition order, Annie Widdes was fined 10s, with 7s costs, in default three days, and for assisting her to break the order Margaret Settar was fined 20s and 7s costs” in default seven days.

MAINTENANCE CASES. Henry Evans was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for disobedience of a maintenance order, his arrears amounting to £lB Ss; sentence to be suspended on payment of 4s per week off the arrears. Samuel Blood was ordered to be imprisoned for a month, his maintenance order being m arrears to the extent of £5 13s; the warrant to be suspended on the payment of 2s 6d a week till the arrears are paid off. Denis Yore was ordered to contribute 3» a week towards the maintenance of Gerald Yore from June 29th next. Albert Nicholson, was fined 10s for disobedience of his order, the arrears being £2 7s 6d. Charlotte Smith was granted a separation order against her husband, William Smith, on the grounds of failure to maintain.
